Traveling to Iowa City

Flying

The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) outside of Cedar Rapids is the nearest airport to Iowa City, being 18 miles (29.1km), north of the city and served by the following domestic airlines: American Airlines, ATA Connection, Delta Connection, Comair, Northwest, United Airlines.

Alternatively, the next nearest airport is the Quad Cities International Airport (MLI) in Moline Illinois. Located 68 miles (110km) east of Iowa City, it is served by AirTran, ATA Connection, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines and United Airlines.

We advise against flying to Des Moines, it is not served by shuttles and is a 2 hour car journey from Iowa City.

International guests will not be able to fly directly to either the Eastern Iowa Airport or the Quad Cities Airport, but will need to transfer at one of the "hubs" in the USA for example: Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis or New York airports.
