James A. Ponto, M.S.: Recipient of the 2003 APhA's
Daniel B. Smith Practice Excellence Award

The American Pharmaceutical Association's Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management Awards Committee recently selected UIHC clinical pharmacist, James A. Ponto, M.S., as the recipient of the Daniel B. Smith Practice Excellence Award for 2003.

The award was established in 1964 to honor the first President of the American Pharmaceutical Association. It recognizes the achievements of a pharmacy practitioner in any practice setting who has distinguished himself or herself and the profession of pharmacy by outstanding performance and

achievement, both in the recipient's community and professional practice setting.

James A. Ponto, M.S., was selected in recognition of his efforts in advancing innovative pharmaceutical care in nuclear pharmacy. He has distinguished himself as a strong practitioner and scholar and is recognized nationally for his expertise and leadership.
